The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures is a museum in Los Angeles, California constructed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which is devoted to the history, science, and cultural impact of the film industry. It is the first large-scale museum of its kind in the United States. The museum is located in the historic May Company Building on the intersection Wilshire Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue, part of Museum Row on the Miracle Mile.

Discover some of the most exciting and important items from the Academy’s collection, which include more than 12 million photographs, 190,000 film and video assets, 80,000 screenplays, 61,000 posters, and 104,000 pieces of production art. The Academy Museum will draw from its own collection of film-related objects and technology as well as the unparalleled collection of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, which contains a vast range of works on paper and still and moving images covering the history of motion picture in the United States and throughout the world.

Timed entry to the Academy Museum must be reserved online in advance. General admission tickets grant access to the museum’s galler​ies. A ticket will be required to visit the Academy Museum’s exhibitions. The Oscars Experience requires a special ticket, as do programs and screenings. A ticket is not required to visit the Academy Museum Store or Fanny’s restaurant and café.
